    When I was schooling in Kandy, in thevearly 1960s, Walkers had the premier motor repair garage in Kandy, on Dalada Veediya. ( not sure what it was called then). My uncle, Mike Fuad, with whom I boarded, took his car for repairs to Walkers. He knew a Mr. Liyanage who worked there. The multistoried Kandy City Center occupies the ptemises now. Thousands of people pass through everyday, but I wonder how many can recall Walkers.

    The information regardig Mr Tissera is incorrect. For example 1982/1986 he was at High Forest, 1987 at Eskdale, 1988/89 at Gonapititya, 1989/90 TRI Talawakelle, 1992 at Park, 1995 at St Leaonards, 1999 at Stockholm and theerafter at Mahanilu Estate

    I was the PD on this property in 2019.What a beautiful Estate.Mrs Sally ,The daughter of Mr.Moore and Mr.Tom jakson the son of the author of this article are well known to me and actually Sally is a friend of mine.One of he most beautiful estates I have served and I think the other one I think equal is Liddesdale Estate .Halgranoya where I was a SD IN 1996.Thanks Mrs Jakson for your Article.

    Gamini's position of Asst. Superintendent of Yoxford in 1947 and 1948, as shown above, could not be correct as Yoxford only had Superintendents till it was amalgamated with Holyrood as a division c.1970 and had its first Asst. Superintendent.

    A very Sri Lankan type of article replete with obsolete scientific advocacy. The developed world (EU, USA, UK etc.) are now contradicting much of the scientific and economic merits of continuous inorganic fertiliser applications. Sri Lanka should follow the advice of such eminent global scientific research and advisory agencies such as Rothampstead Research in the UK who have been researching on inorganic fertiliser applications for over century. The new findings on "legacy" fertiliser as cumulative excess components used over decades in agricultural fiends and plantations, conclusively prove that anywhere such continuous applications have been done can skip applying anymore fertiliser between 5 to 16 years. This is because the legacy fertiliser in the soil is more than enough to supply the next few years of plant growth without adding any more. This proves that whoever took the decision to cease anymore imports of inorganic fertiliser for the forseeable future was justified in such decisions. The doom and gloom agents in Sri Lanka either do not know what is happening at the cutting edge of plant nutrient science or are deliberately covering up these facts as beneficieries of fertiliser importers. What a waste of billions of Forex from Sri Lanka which could have been saved for other expenses! C.f.i.
