Although Ceylon Tea production dampened in the month of September, the sector has managed a Year-on-Year (YoY) increase of Rs. 108.02 in the national sales average.
The national average for September 2020 totalled Rs. 619.33, a marginal increase of Rs. 01.01 month-on-month.
Analysis of the elevational averages September 2020 show that High Growns, totaled Rs. 555.98, which is a month-on-month decrease of Rs. 16.40 compared with the August 2020 figure. However, it is an increase of Rs. 97.43 compared with the corresponding month of the previous year.
Mediums averaged Rs. 538.04 in September, recording a decrease of Rs. 25.74 in the previous month.
When compared to September 2019 average, a YoY increase of Rs. 101.49 was witnessed.
Low Growns totaled Rs. 661.61, which is a marginal decrease of Rs. 03.26 when compared with August 2020. Here again, the average shows a significant increase of Rs. 117.68 YoY when compared to Rs. 543.93 of September 2019.
January-September 2020 cumulative national average reached Rs. 623.49, an increase of Rs. 81.61 compared with the corresponding period in 2019.
High Growns reached a cumulative figure of Rs. 565.11, whereas Mediums and Low Growns averaged Rs. 546.91 and Rs. 665.81 respectively for the January - September 2020 period.
