ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s high-priced Low Grown tea prices slipped over 100 rupees in August’s first-week sale to 1,549 rupees from 1,664.44 rupees per kilogram in the previous week’s sale (July 27) while the low priced teas gained, Ceylon Tea Broker’s data showed.
The low-priced High Grown tea was sold at 1,399.44 rupees per kilogram this week from 1,305.22 rupees per kilogram.
Medium Grown tea was sold at 1,247.37 rupees per kilogram from 1,202.09 rupees per kilogram.
Low-grown tea prices continued to rise from June starting around 1,300 rupees per kilogram and continued to rise up to 1,600 rupees till the end of July.
