Jul 09, 2020 (LBO) – Sri Lanka’s national tea average for the month of June 2020 totalled Rs. 612.67 vis-à-vis Rs. 697.57 of May 2020, which was the highest ever recorded for a month, showing a significant decrease of Rs. 84.14 month on month.
However, in comparison to June 2019 average of Rs. 494.48, shows a significant increase of Rs. 118.19 YOY.
When analysing the respective elevational averages for the month of June 2020 –
High Growns totalling Rs. 567.11 for June 2020 have recorded a decrease of Rs. 78.30 month on month vis-à-vis Rs. 645.41 of May 2020. When compared to June 2019 average of Rs. 458.55, a significant increase of Rs. 108.56 is recorded YOY.
Mediums averaging Rs. 544.19 for June 2020 have recorded a decrease of Rs. 55.41 vis-à-vis Rs. 599.60 of May 2020. When compared to June 2019 average of Rs. 430.74, shows a substantial gain of Rs. 113.45. Low Growns totalling Rs. 655.97 for June 2020 recorded a decrease of Rs. 88.55 vis-à-vis Rs. 744.52 of May 2020 which was the highest ever recorded for a month. However, here again the average shows a significant increase of Rs. 129.45 YOY when compared to Rs. 526.52 of June 2019.
When analysing the January-June 2020 cumulative national average of Rs. 627.85, an increase of Rs. 66.71 is recorded vis-à-vis Rs. 561.14 of January-June 2019.
High Growns for the period January-June 2020 of Rs. 584.10 have shown an increase of Rs. 49.56 vis-à-vis Rs. 534.54 of January-June 2019. Mediums averaging Rs. 553.46 have shown an increase of Rs. 63.09 vis-à-vis Rs. 490.37 of January-June 2019.
Meanwhile, Low Growns totalling Rs. 666.83 for January-June 2020 have shown the highest increase of Rs. 77.85 vis-à-vis Rs. 588.98 of January-June 2019.
As detailed on Page No. 8, both month and cumulative averages show an increase when analysed in USD terms too.
