Sri Lanka’s Embassy in Tehran participated in the Iran Charity Bazaar held in Tehran from November 1-3. The Charity Bazaar was organised by the Women Diplomats Association of Iran’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, in coordination with the Iran based Diplomatic Missions and other organisations to raise funds for helping the underprivileged people.
Welcoming the Chair of the Women Diplomats Association and the spouse of Iran’s Foreign Affairs Minister Amir Abdollahian to the Sri Lanka booth, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Iran G. M. V. Wishwanath Aponsu appreciated her leadership in organising the bazaar with the participation of more than 150 entities. Chairperson Abdollahian thanked the Ambassador Aponsu for the active participation of the embassy at the charity market with the donation of six cartons containing Ceylon tea and other Sri Lanka’s products.
The charity market featured more than 145 stalls that showcased a wide array of products.
The Sri Lanka stall displayed and promoted Ceylon tea from the seven regions provided by the Sri Lanka Tea Board and several tea importing companies in Iran, and other export products from the Export Development Board of Sri Lanka.
