Sri Lanka tea production for the month of October 2022 totalled 18.75 M/Kgs, showing a decrease of 5.43 M/Kgs vis-à-vis 24.18 M/Kgs of October 2021. All elevations have shown a decline over the corresponding month of 2021. When compared to the 23.84 M/Kgs of October 2020, October 2022 shows a decrease of 5.09 M/Kgs January-October 2022 cumulative production totalled 211.39 M/Kgs, recording a significant decrease of 47.51 M/Kgs vis-à-vis 258.90 M/Kgs of January-October 2021.
This would be the lowest recorded for the period under review since 1995 where it recorded approximately 201.78 M/Kgs. On a cumulative basis, all elevations have shown a decline over the corresponding period of 2021 according to Forbes & Walker (PVT) Ltd. When compared to 225.28 M/Kgs of Covid-19 impacted January-October 2020, cumulative production of January-October 2022 shows a decrease of 13.90 M/Kgs. On a cumulative basis, once again all elevations show a decline over the corresponding period of 2020.
