Transcript of newspaper article describing the death of James Dodwell Palmer - born 1845 and killed in a horse riding accident on the Dimbula Road aged 33 on 28th April 1878. James was the original owner of the properties which his younger brother Prior Spunner Palmer then inherited.

They seem to have visited a Boer prison camp in Ceylon in around 1900 almost as though it was a Sunday outing to view a spectacular sight.
