02/9 | How it is produced
White tea is the product of the same plant that produces both green and black tea called Camellia sinensis. However, the extraction method is different, which gives white tea a unique and distinct flavour of its own. It is made from new buds and leaves of the plant when they are young. The leaves and buds have fine white hair-like strands that are carefully plucked and sun-dried in a controlled method which prevents oxidation. The thin white hairs might be the reason behind the name though!
