Sri Lanka’s tea production for the month of July 2024 totalled 22.89 million kilogrammes, recording an increase of 6.1 percent year-on-year (YoY).
The High and Medium Grown elevations recorded an increase, while the Low Grown elevation saw a marginal decline of 0.45 million kilogrammes in comparison with the corresponding month of 2023.
Compared to 19.92 million kilogrammes of July 2022, the corresponding month shows an increase of 2.97 million kilogrammes.
The January-July 2024 cumulative production totalled 150.49 million kilogrammes, recording a decrease of 3.6 percent YoY. Compared to the corresponding period in 2023, the High and Low Grown elevations have recorded a negative variance, whilst the Medium Growns have recorded a marginal gain in the year 2024.
Compared to 153.22 million kilogrammes of January-July 2022, the cumulative production of 2024 shows a decrease of 2.73 million kilogrammes. On a cumulative basis, the High and Low Growns show a negative variance, whilst the Medium Growns and Green Tea have recorded a positive variance over the corresponding period of 2022.
