The travel trade hopes to attract more British tourists to Sri Lanka following the success of the country’s pavilion at the World Travel Market (WTM) concluded recently at London’s Excel Exhibition Hall. The display at the pavilion was warmly applauded by industry professionals and other visitors.
Sri Lanka had a significant 200,000 British visitors annually pre-Covid. With recent relaxation of travel restrictions on both sides, the Sri Lanka Tourist Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) hope to attract more traffic, SLTPB Chairperson Kimarli Fernando said.
SLTPB together with 20 travel and hospitality companies attended this year’s WTM,
considered a leading global tourism event enabling business generation by interaction with industry professionals from many parts of the world.
The Sri Lanka High Commission in London supported the promotional effort which included serving all visitors to the pavilion Ceylon tea from seven tea-growing regions, traditional dancing and displays of diverse tourist attractions.
