The tea exports in the month of November dipped 25 percent year-on-year (YoY) to 19.28 MnKgs, as all main categories recoded declines compared to the previous year, according to Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers.
The FOB value of Rs.1,992.05 in November 2022 declined marginally, from the highest ever recorded in a calendar month of Rs.2,077.46 in October 2022.
However, the FOB value has seen an increase of Rs.1,074.09, compared to Rs.917.96 in November 2021 and in US dollars terms, a gain of 0.89 cents.
The cumulative analysis of the January-November 2022 period showed that the exports totalled 230.89 MnKgs, down 11 percent YoY. The FOB value for the first 11 months recorded an increase of Rs.691.06, bringing the value to Rs.1,611,72, compared with the same period in 2021.
The tea exports in the first 11 months have brought in US $ 1.17 billion, down 4.6 percent YoY.
Emerging as the top importer of Ceylon Tea was Iraq, followed by Russia. Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan and Libya were also leading importers of Ceylon Tea during the 11-month period.
