The national tea sales average for the month of July 2024 recorded Rs.1,223.88 (US $ 4.05), a 1.5 percent decrease in comparison with the June 2024 average of Rs.1,243.69 (US $ 4.12), data from the Sri Lanka Tea Board showed.
When compared with the July 2023 average of Rs.1,011.44 (US $ 3.18), a positive variance of Rs.212.44 and US $ 0.87 year-on-year (YoY) is seen.
The elevation wise analysis shows that the High Grown average for the month recorded an increase of Rs.20.38 and US $ 0.07 month-on-month (MoM), whilst an increase of Rs.286.02 and US $ 1.09 is recorded YoY.
The Medium Grown average for the month recorded a negative variance of Rs.16.65 and US $ 0.05 MoM. In comparison to the corresponding month last year, shows an increase of Rs.179.04 and US $ 0.74 YoY.
The Low Grown average for the month recorded a decrease in both the Sri Lankan rupee and US dollar terms of Rs.37.01 and US $ 0.12 MoM, respectively, whilst the YoY average shows an increase of Rs.191.81 and US $ 0.82.
All regions recorded positive variances during the period January-July 2024 in comparison to the corresponding period of 2023, in the Sri Lankan rupee and US dollar terms.
