Kurdistan has agreed to grant more opportunities for agricultural exports from Sri Lanka. This follows discussions Industrial Exports and Investment Promotions, Tourism and Aviation Minister Prasanna Ranatunga had with a visiting delegation of the Kurdistan Chamber of Industry and Commerce at the Industrial Export and Investment Promotion Ministry on January 31.
The 16-member delegation was led by President of the Chamber Jaleel Qualeel. Sri Lanka Council General in Iraq and the Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce had arranged the visit. The delegates pointed out that Kurdistan had a shortage of trained teachers and such job opportunities could be provided for trained teachers from Sri Lanka.
They also said there was an increased demand for Sri Lanka’s tea and cinnamon products in Kurdistan. Industrial Export and Investment Promotion Ministry Secretary Mapa Pathirana was also associated with the discussions, a media statement by the Industrial Export Investment Promotion, Tourism and Aviation Ministry Media Unit said.
